Visa Informations
Travelers from most countries can easily obtain a visa for Nepal either on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) or from a Nepalese Embassy or Consulate abroad. Below is a detailed guide to help you understand the visa process.
Visa on Arrival
Tourists can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or at official land border entry points (such as Kakarbhitta, Birgunj, Belahiya, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Mahendranagar).
To get a visa on arrival, you will need:
- A valid passport (with at least six months validity)
- One recent passport-size photo
- Visa fee (cash in USD or equivalent in major currencies)
Tourist Visa Fees
- 15 Days: USD 30
- 30 Days: USD 50
- 90 Days: USD 125
You can extend your visa at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara Immigration Office if you plan to stay longer.
Visa Extension
- A tourist visa can be extended for up to 150 days in a calendar year.
- The extension fee is USD 3 per day for up to 15 days and USD 5 per day for longer extensions.

To save time, you can fill out the Online Tourist Visa Form before your arrival. After submitting the form, print the confirmation slip and bring it with you.

Free Visa
Citizens of the following countries are eligible for a free visa:
- India (no visa required)
- SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) are granted a 30-day free visa once in a year.
Restricted Nationalities
Citizens from certain countries (such as Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Swaziland, Iraq, Palestine, and Ethiopia) must obtain a visa from the Nepalese Embassy or Consulate in advance.
Transit Visa
Travelers transiting through Nepal for less than 24 hours can obtain a transit visa for USD 5, provided they have a confirmed onward flight ticket.
Visa Overstay Penalty
Overstaying your visa is subject to a fine and possible legal action. Always ensure your visa is valid throughout your stay.
